Lorraine Bohler Brooks, of Waco, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at Providence Hosptal in Waco, Texas.
Following a private interment on Saturday, October 22, a Rosary will be recited 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 14th Street and Washington Avenue.
A Memorial Mass will follow the Rosary and will be celebrated by Reverend Angelo Bertini. Visitation will follow in the Assumption House.
Lorraine was born in Morristown, New Jersey on August 27, 1925, to Harold and Helen McNeil Bohler. She graduated from Morristown High School in 1942.
She married Robert Joe Brooks, Jr. in St. Virgil's Catholic Church in Morris Township, New Jersey, on November 25, 1945.
She worked for Judge R. Sar Mischiara in Morristown until she and her husband moved to Texas in 1946. In 1951 she went to work for the U.S. Postal Service where she worked for over 35 years, retiring as Sectional Center Director for Employee and Labor Relations in 1986.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Women's Guild and served on the Parish Council and as Parish Social Ministry Director; she served on the National Board of Directors for the Ladies of Charity and in numerous capacities for the Ladies of Charity of Waco.
She was a member of Historic Waco Foundation where she served on the board of directors and on the house committee for Earle-Napier-Kinnard House. She was a life member of the Auxiliary of Providence Health Center.
Preceding her in death was her son, Robert Joe Brooks, III, her parents, a sister and a brother.
Surviving Lorraine is her husband of over 65 years, Robert J. Brooks, Jr., and a number of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caritas of Waco, or the charity of your choice.
