Lorraine Sadler passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the age of 88. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Amos Humphries and David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Lorraine was born October 23, 1921 in Groesbeck to Burl Columbus Vinzant and Lottie Steele Vinzant. She was the oldest of six children. She married Andy Sadler November 23, 1940. Lorraine and Andy farmed near Groesbeck in the Red Hill area until the 1950's, when they moved to Waco and Andy worked at General Tire for many years. They were members of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church since 1952 and Lorraine served as church secretary for over 25 years. Many of her life-long friendships were formed there.
Lorraine was an enthusiastic student of the Bible and participated seven years with the Women's Bible Study at First Methodist Church. After her retirement, Lorraine served as a volunteer with Hillcrest Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Burl Vinzant, John Vinzant and Lewis Vinzant; and her sister, Fleta Gopffarth.
Lorraine is survived by her three children, Linda Easter, Jean Davis and husband, Jeff and Gary Sadler and Donna Oldmixon; her sister, Jane Spikes; grandchildren, Elizabeth Baumgart and husband, Bobby, Laura Patschke, Jason Easter and wife, Esther, Mark Perry and wife, Tammie, Scott Perry and wife, Margaret, Diana Stodola and husband, Mark and Zack Sadler and wife, Kelly; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Perry, Mark Stodola, Zack Sadler, Mark Perry, Scott Perry and Trent Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Trevor, Tanner, Andrew, Mason and Mitchell.
The family wishes to thank Ridgecrest Retirement and Bluebonnet Hospice for the compassionate care Lorraine received. Also appreciated is the love and support of the Gleaner Sunday school class and all her friends at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church.
