Louis Landingham

Louis Dwight Landingham, 86, was called home to the Lord on February 17, 2017. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas. You may pay your respects between the hours of 8 to 5, Monday, February 20, at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Louis was born on May 9, 1931 to Roten and Maggie Goodwin Landingham. His mother died when Louis was age 9. He and his three siblings were placed in the Waco Methodist Home, where he attended Waco schools and the remainder of his childhood years. At age 18 Louis enlisted in the United States Army, 2nd Army Division at Camp Hood, Texas and served 10 years. While in the service, Louis met Betty Loyce Watson. The couple wed on September 6, 1952 and were blessed with 64 happy years together. Louis began his business career working for Wm. Cameron Company Wholesale as Assistant Controller which led him to open his own public accounting and insurance agency until his retirement.

God gave Louis and Betty two beautiful daughters, Louann and Jennifer. Louis dedicated his life to loving and serving his family. Some of his favorite memories were spent at the family farm in Mount Calm, Texas. More than anything, Louis cherished spending time in God’s Word and sharing his biblical knowledge with family.
Louis was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Goodwin Landingham; his father and stepmother, Roten Landingham and Pearl Landingham; his infant sister; brother, Ralph Landingham; and sisters, Shirley Landingham Collins and Lillian Landingham Fisk.

Louis was a devoted husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather and is survived by his wife, Betty of Waco; daughter, Louann Walker and her husband, Russel; daughter, Jennifer Peters and her husband, Kenneth; granddaughters, Katharine Nunley and husband, Nick, Emily Salazar and husband, Patrick, Caroline Williams and Meighan Walker; grandson, Taylor Peters; great-granddaughters, Claire Nunley and Camryn Peters; and great-grandsons, Campbell Nunley and Brooks Peters. Louis was also blessed by numerous nieces and nephews.

“For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God.” Job 19:25-26
