Louise Sharp Black, 87, of Waco, died Sunday, August 27th, 2023 at Providence Hospice Place after a prolonged illness.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6th from 5-7 P.M. at OakCrest Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Thursday, September 7th at 10 A.M. at Rosemound Cemetery with Reverend Kip Osborne of Western Heights Baptist Church officiating.
Louise was born September 2, 1935, in Downsville, TX to George David and Gail Shiner Sharp. She attended elementary and middle school in Rosenthal and was in the final graduating class of Waco Technical High School in 1954. She worked at Lankart Cotton Gin in Asa for 15 years and retired from Khoury, Inc. in 1996. Louise played the piano, sang in the choir, and taught Children's Sunday School at Downsville Baptist Church for over 20 years. She was most recently a member of Western Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gail Sharp; two sisters, Minnie Mae (Sis) Whyburn, and Erma (Tot) Polk; two brothers, Larry Sharp and John (Sonny) Sharp; and stepson, Craig Black.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, James Calvin Black; brother, Jim Sharp and wife, Mary, of Robinson; sister, Linda Bland Sharp of Waco; son, Randy Nehring and wife, Tammie, of China Spring; daughter, Tena Nehring-Herod of Robinson; daughter-in-law, Sherry Black of West; stepdaughter, Becky Black Marquez and husband, Steve of Waco; grandchildren, Kayla Nehring Brown and husband, Trent, Kelli Nehring, Nickolas Herod and wife, Gregoria, Jeremy Herod and wife, Molly, George Herod and wife, Klarisa, James David Black and wife, Amber, Courtney Fernandez Olivarez and husband, Jaime, Taylor Fernandez Hill and husband, Steven; great-grandchildren, Cullen and Davy Helen Brown, Clara, Kylar, Johnie Lee and Lucas Herod, Everett and Adaline Black; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Louise loved to decorate her home, was an avid gardener, and an accomplished seamstress. She was devoted to her family and was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be Nickolas Herod, Jeremy Herod, George Herod, Kelli Nehring, Jaime Olivarez, and Steven Hill.
