Lucas Alexander Avila, two months, of Hewitt passed from this earth on Monday, October 1, 2007 at a Temple Hospital. Christian services will be 10 am Thursday at St. Eugene Catholic Church in McGregor with father Patrick Adajoh officiating. Burial will be in the McGregor Cemetery. Vigil services will be 6:30 pm Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. recited by Father Hilario Guajardo. Visitation will follow.
Lucas Alexander Avila was born to Jose and Amy (Cantu) Avila on July 30, 2007 at 12:57 am in Waco. This precious baby boy weighed 4 lbs 12 oz and was 18 inches long. From the second this little browned eyed boy was born he became a fighter. Lucas brightened everyone's life for sixty-one days . He carries with him a part of each one of his siblings, he has Mikah's hair, Isabella's eyes and Lucy's cheeks. Lucas had a sparkle in his eyes that let us know he was sent here for us from our Savior Jesus Christ. Lucas will always be remembered for the wonderful gift he gave to each and every person that had the benefit of loving him. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Evanangelana and great-grandmother, Lucille Flores.
Lucas is survived by his parents, Jose and Amy Avila; brother, Mikah Lopez; sisters, Isabella Lopez and Lucia Elena Avila all of Hewitt; grandparents, Jeff and Mary Wall of Woodway, Martin and Rhonda Cantu of Rock Port and Jose Raul Avila, Sr. of Hewitt; aunts, Amanda Cantu, Alexa Cantu, Susanna Avila; uncles, Lorenzo Avila and wife Amanda, Christopher Cantu and wife Nancy; cousins, Lorenzo, Jr., Madison, McKenzie and Eva.
Pallbearers will be Jon Baden, Jr. and Christopher Staples.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to First National Bank of McGregor in memory of Lucas Alexander Avila or to the Ronald McDonald house in Temple.
