Lupe "Mom" Garza, age 75, of Waco, TX passed away Sunday evening, July 14, 2024, at her residence with her husband by her side.
Lupe was born to Frank Mendoza and Benita Flores-Mendoza on April 29, 1949. She grew up in China Spring, her dad was a farmer at Bentwood Farms and a construction worker at Waco Paving and her mom was a homemaker. Lupe was a farm girl at heart.
Lupe was preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles she looked after.
Lupe is survived by her loving husband Robert Garza. Robert & Lupe were blessed with three children, Richard, Denise, and Stella. She was wonderfully devoted to her four grandchildren: Daniel, Erica, Cecilia, and Isaiah “Ozzy”, as well as eight adored great-grandchildren: Elijah, Ayden, Sophia, Jose, Amelia, Alana, Micah, & Julian. Her beloved brother Frank Mendoza. Her very best friend, Virginia. Lupe had many sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives. To know Lupe, you had a friend for life.
In 1965, she met the love of her life, Robert Garza. They lived together almost inseparably for over 56 years. She attended St. Francis Catholic Church where her and Robert were also married.
They lived in Waco, TX where they raised their 3 children & built their life. Mom was the Queen of the kitchen, known for her perfect fried eggs, soft homemade tortillas and "melt in your mouth" beans. There was nothing more satisfying than mom's home cooking and seeing her make a meal for the people she loved. She enjoyed watching TV shows such as Judge Judy and Oprah, sewing, reading, taking Oz to baseball, camping at Lake Whitney with all the kids, and spending time with her family and grandchildren who had her heart. Lupe asked for so little, but she gave so very much. She left this world a better place with her unconditional love.
To all of you she loved please join us in celebrating her life or as mom would say "coffee, cake, and fellowship" on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, 6p-8p at OakCrest Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 10a at St. Francis Catholic Church with burial at Waco Memorial to follow.
