Lupe Tijerina
February 12, 1944 – March 6, 2006
Lupe "Wapita" Tijerina, 62, of Waco, passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, at St. Catherine's. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Armando Virgen officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m.
She was born February 12, 1944 in Waco to Trinidad and Elvira (Serrato) Tijerina, and has lived here all her life. She worked as an inspector for a Waco bottling plant for many years. She loved to be around her family and friends, and to listen to oldies. She will be dearly missed by everyone.
She is survived by her sons, Victor Tijerina and wife, Patricia of Waco, and Jimmy Gutierrez and wife, Ruby and Nicholas Gutierrez, all of Waco, and their father, Jimmy Gutierrez Sr. of Houston; daughters, Lisa Savage of Waco, Vickie Vazquez and husband, Edwardo of Annapolis, MD, and Pamela Rosas and husband, Frank of Houston; brothers, Tony Tijerina, and Johnny Tijerina, both of Waco, and Trinidad Tijerina Jr. of Dallas; sisters, Rosie Cirilo, Ruth Sais, Nancy Gonzalez and husband, Tom, Mary Arzola, Gloria Romero and husband, Richard, Theresa Gonzalez and husband, Angel Garcia, and Vera Gonzalez and husband, Ray, all of Waco; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard Romero, Ray Gonzales, Angel Garcia, Victor Burgos, Bobby Cirilo, and Jimmy Gutierrez.
The family especially thanks Providence Hospice, the staff at St. Catherine's especially Tammy, Judy and Theresa, and homecare provider Martha Ochoa.
