Life Story

Darrell was born January 22, 1944 in Houston to Luther Harkrider and Mildred Eugenia Bates Harkrider.

As a teenager, Darrell lived in Waco at the Waco State Home. Darrell attended University High School and completed several extension courses from Texas A&M.

He was a top salesman for T.J. Lipton Co., Pure Milk Co. and the Bakemark Corporation USA. He was Salesman of the Year for T. J. Lipton and was flown to New York City for a celebration and an award for this honor.

He received many awards, but just this week, he received the highest award, his crown of life which he will cast at Jesus' feet. He considered all awards to be nothing compared to his life in Jesus.

Share The Testimony of God's Love

Darrell loved to share his testimony of God's love and grace to him. He served many years as a deacon at Highland Baptist Church, as a lay counselor at the Highland Baptist Church Care Center, a benevolence center for the needy.

Darrell loved music. He played the piano and keyboard beautifully by ear. He enjoyed boating, fishing and the outdoors, especially the Mountains of Colorado, Alaska and Wyoming. Darrell loved wildlife and enjoyed bird watching.

Married to the Love of His Life

Darrell was married to the love of his life, Eva Cheek on June 29, 1968. They were planning a cruise celebration for their upcoming anniversary, but he went for a better trip with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
