Luther Freddie Minnix, age 69, of Waco, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2006 at a Waco hospital with his devoted wife Connie at his side.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Price officiating. Soloist will be Brian Rueth. Burial will follow in Rosemond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.
Freddie was born April 2, 1937 in Waco to Luther and Hattie (Bishop) Minnix, and lived most of his life here. He worked in construction, first for Young Brothers and later for Downing Brothers before retiring in 1989. He married Connie Lander on June 2, 1979 in Fort Worth. He loved the outdoors, especially gardening and growing his roses. His pride and joy was his 1999 blue Ford pick-up. He was a kind, gentle man who will be missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, George Carroll.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; son, Lance Minnix of Waco; daughter, Laura Rueth of Richardson; grandson, Jason Rueth of Richardson; brothers, Billy Minnix of Waco and Lawrence Minnix and his wife, Linda of Daly City, Cal.; and sisters, Liza Fraiser and husband, Hut of Waco, and Patsy Blount of Houston.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Minnix, Patrick Minnix, Hut Fraizer, D.W. Morgan, Tom Morgan, and Keith Sulak. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Sparks and his wife, Faye.
