Marc H. Wentzel, 57, of Waco, Texas an enthusiastic lover of life, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at his residence
A Celebration of his Life will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 1 p.m., at the Central Presbyterian Church in Woodway, TX with Rev. Larry Thompson and Dr. J. Pat Kennedy officiating.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, in the Young Cemetery in Gene Autry, OK. The Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home of Ardmore, OK., will handle the arrangements there.
Marc was born June 28, 1950 in Wichita, KS, to Elmer M. "Chic" Wentzel and Vera Suerdieck Wentzel. He married Kathy Malyn Young on July 16, 1983. They lived in Edmond, OK, for 20 years; and moved to Waco in 2007.
Marc lived a full and varied life. A creative inventor, he was especially proud of a tire ladder he designed and patented. He loved to cook, and volunteered for many years at the Edmond, Oklahoma Thanksgiving Dinner where he was known as the "Spudmaster". He was an avid Nascar fan. He cherished the beauty of nature, whether boating on the ocean, scuba diving, white water rafting, or four wheeling in the Colorado mountains.
Always quick to volunteer and help others unselfishly, Marc had assisted his father in the Coast Guard Auxiliary during sea rescues. He helped with the rescue efforts at the Oklahoma City bombing.
He was a charter member of the Sante Fe Presbyterian Church in Edmond, OK. He joined the Central Presbyterian Church in Waco after moving here.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; brother, Craig T. Wentzel and wife, Kathy; sisters-in-law, LaVeta Chase and Beth Litzsinger and husband Joe; brothers-in-law, James Young and wife, Donna, and Jess Young; and 18 nephews and nieces.
