Margaret Eliza Dickenson
October 3, 1921 - December 28, 2021
Margaret Eliza Dickenson, 100 years old, went to her heavenly home on December 28, 2021. Her desire was to have no funeral. She just wanted her family and friends to remember the good times they had on their own. She had a good and fulfilling life, she said. If you choose to honor her memory, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
She was born in Waco, Texas on October 3, 1921 to William Frank and Maud Leonard.
On March 14, 1945, she married the love of her life, Homer Glen Dickenson. They were married for 73 years, until Homer passed on December 4, 2018. They had two sons, Glen Dickenson and Dale Dickenson. Homer and Margaret were charter members of Central United Methodist Church. Prior to Central Methodist’s merger, they were members of Trinity Methodist Church and were very active in choir and teaching Sunday School.
Margaret was employed by TSTC for 30 years. She taught as an Instructor in the Dental Assistant program from 1968 to 1974. She was the head of the Dental Assistant program from 1974 to 1998. She instigated and partially developed the TSTC Dental Assistant program into Individualized Instruction. She retired in 1998 at the age of 77. Her family always referred to her as the “Energizer Bunny”, as she was always so full of energy and love.
She is survived by sons, Glen Dickenson, Dale Dickenson and wife, Teresa; and her grandsons, Drew Dickenson and wife, Jodi and Jarrod Dickenson and wife, Claire. She is also survived by two nieces, Donna Anderson of Hubbard, TX and her family, and Valda Monroe and husband, Keith Blevens of LaConner, WA and their family.
Predeceasing her were her husband, Homer Dickenson; her mother and father; brother, Albert Leonard and wife, Jessie Lee; Sisters, Frankie Hopkins, Mattie Sparkman, Marie Blackmon and brother, Ed Kemp.
The family would like to thank the staff at Living Springs Memory Care Center for the excellent care she received while living there. She thrived during her time at Living Springs and loved the staff and other residents.
Heaven gained a very special lady and she will be missed by her family, until we meet again.
