Margaret Stanley

Margaret Stanley, 85, of Hewitt, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, 1008 Jefferson Avenue, with the Rev. Paul Fiske officiating.

Margaret was born September 8, 1926 in Selby, South Dakota to Harry William Johnson and Ermetta Sunderland Johnson. She married Harlan G. Stanley on November 7, 1947 in Webster, South Dakota. They moved to Hershey, Nebraska in 1981 and then moved to Texas in May of 1995. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary in Sturgis, South Dakota and a TOPS secretary and a successful Avon representative. Margaret enjoyed making a home for her family, gardening, writing and preparing meals for family and friends. She especially enjoyed caring for her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, Harry West Johnson, William Brooks Johnson and Thomas Eugene Johnson.

Margaret is survived by her children, Lois Fae Hoffman, Michael Wayne Stanley and David L. Stanley and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Robert J. Edwards and family, Alan C. Edwards and family and Tammy Comer and family; her sister, Enid Vian Larson; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
