Margarito Aviles was born on January 26, 1968, in the pueblo of Apatzingán, Michoacán, Mexico, to Efrain and Engracia Aviles. Margarito Aviles ingrained a legacy of love, laughter, and confidence to everyone around him. He was the third oldest of seven siblings that he loved. Marty was honored to call these beloved people his sisters and brothers: Lucia, Pedro, Jaime, Candelaria, Guadalupe, Maria, Javier, Tony, and Kimberly.
At the age of 7, Margarito moved with his family to Bakersfield, California, where he later met the mother of his children, Daisy Guevara, in 1986. Together, they had nine children. George, Marty, Brian, Jessica, and David were born while in California and in 1995, the family moved to Waco, Texas, where they were blessed with four more children: Brenda, Natalie, Vanessa, and Esmeralda. After 21 years of marriage, Margarito and Daisy parted ways in 2007. He later met Claudia, and they married in 2011, having a daughter, Devanny. Claudia also had two sons, Josse and Edwin, whom Margarito lovingly embraced and raised as his own. Amelia was also an addition to his family whom he cherished as his daughter. My dad was definitely a "giver of life".
Margarito was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing along the coast of Port Aransas, where he would spend hours chasing redfish, sheephead, sharks, and Spanish mackerel. Despite the occasional run-in with poisonous fish that was often his only catch. His love for the outdoors extended to hunting whitetail deer and wild hog, often gathering family and friends for BBQs to celebrate a successful hunt. He also enjoyed camping in pop-up trailers and cruising on boats for both leisure and fishing trips. Classic rock from the ‘70s to the ‘90s filled the air as he drove to his favorite spots, always with a smile on his face.
A true entertainer, Margarito loved hosting parties, making everyone feel welcome, and cracking jokes to keep everyone laughing. He had a particular fondness for quinceañeras and bodas, where he would not hesitate to get on the dance floor and show off his moves. His infectious sense of humor, his loving heart, and his generosity were his trademarks. Above all, Margarito loved being a father and a family man. His devotion to his children and grandchildren was boundless. He was known for his endless love and for always giving and forgiving, never turning his back on family.
Margarito was a man of integrity and hard work. He dedicated 24 years of service to the City of Waco, working in parks and recreation as well as traffic. He took great pride in his work and was deeply appreciative of his career. He loved being a businessman, owning multiple properties to be able to help people with the proceeds even if its to be generous for more gatherings and events. A natural problem-solver, Margarito was a jack-of-all-trades—whether fixing cars, offering advice, or simply helping a friend in need, he was always there to lend a hand. He also had a knack for finding good deals, often making the most of coupons, like his favorite 2-for-1 breakfast sandwiches at Burger King, paired with his decaffeinated coffee.
Margarito’s presence brought joy, wisdom, and warmth to everyone who knew him. He had a gift for making people feel special and loved, and his charming personality left a lasting impact on all. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to have crossed paths with him.
