Miss Maria Natalia Garcia, 80, of Waco, passed away September 7, 2010. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at St. Louis Catholic Church by Msgr. Mark Deering. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at OakCrest Funeral Home, followed by visitation with her family.

Maria Natalia was born November 29, 1929 in Bellmead to Francisco and Maria Natalia Ballesteros. Her mother died giving birth to Maria Natalia and she was adopted by Delfino and Antonia Garcia of Waco. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, a member of the St. Veronica Circle, and a member of the Waco Euterpian Music Club, serving as president from 2003 to 2005. She loved music, playing the piano, guitar, clarinet, and her love was to dance. She taught folk dancing to many Central Texas children. Maria graduated from Waco High School in the Class of 1949 and attended 4C College in secretarial and business machines. She worked in accounting at Buchanan Laundry, Montgomery Ward, B&B Sporting Goods, and retired from the Waco Tribune in 1993.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Luz Bravo, Christine Segura, Maria de Jesus Guerrero, Josafat Garcia, and Nicolasa Garcia; brothers, Joe Ballesteros and Santiago Ballesteros.

She is survived by cousins, Mary Louise Garcia, Alice Garay, Connie Garcia Hewitt, Joe Garcia, Ted Garcia and family, Bill and Gracie Hewitt, and Frank and Carlotta Herrera. She is also survived by nieces, Margaret Murillo, Sylvia Smith, Felicia Molandes, Rosemarie Gomez, Barbara Carbajal, Diane Ballesteros, Mary Helen Ballesteros; and nephews, Steve Bravo, Ben Bravo, Mike Bravo, Johnny Ballesteros, Paul Ballesteros, and Felix Segura, Jr., and many grand nieces and nephews, and many adopted nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Paul Ballesteros, Matthew Bravo, Manuel Marquez, Bert Murillo, Jason Nicholls, and Shaun Smith.
