Marian Pemberton

Born to August and Vivian Reiter of Norborne, Missouri, Marian died in Waco, the 24th of October. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at OakCrest Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with her family will be 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Marian married Karl Raymond Pemberton July 7, 1946 in Norborne and lived in Central Missouri prior to moving to Iowa. They had four children, Terrence Ray Pemberton, D. Scott Pemberton, Sue Ann Pemberton-Haugh and John K. Pemberton.

Early in their marriage, Marian helped Karl in poultry research while raising their family. She was involved in leadership in Women's Clubs in Iowa. After moving to Texas, Marian worked as a caseworker at the Methodist Children's Home, The Salvation Army, the United Way as Director of Information and Referrals, and for Central Texas Senior Ministry serving Rural Meals-on-Wheels. Marian loved flowers, people, and poetry.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Karl in 1990, and her eldest son, Terrence Ray in 1985.

She is survived by sons, D. Scott Pemberton and wife, Laurie, and John K. Pemberton, and daughter, Sue Ann Pemberton-Haugh and husband, Gerry; brothers, Terrence Reiter and wife, Ruth Ann of Chilocothe, Missouri; Bill Reiter and wife, Sandra of Carrollton, Missouri; and David Reiter and wife, Janice, also of Carrolton, Missouri; and sisters-in-law, Karleen Prout of Independence, Missouri and Merylin Lipoma of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, David Pemberton, Jason Pemberton, Alysia Milam, Jennifer Morrow, Brittany Elmquist, Taryn Rae Collins, Matthew Scott Pemberton, and Sarah Jane Haugh; eight great-grand children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Texas Senior Ministry to support the Meals-on-Wheels program.
