Marie Banghart, cherished mother, 92, passed away Friday April 1, 2005 at her home in Waco. Her gentle spirit is with the Lord now, and the interment of her body will be in Lincoln, Nebraska, at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. OakCrest Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Marie was born July 2, 1912, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Anna Maul and David Strackbein. She married Frank Banghart July 3, 1935, and was widowed in 1951. Marie then devoted her life to her three children and her job at Roncka Printing Company in Omaha where she rarely missed a day of work in almost forty years.
She served as a Cub Scout den mother, PTA secretary, sorority Mother's Club officer, and attended every sporting and school event in which her children were involved.
She loved being outside with gardening and was a great sports enthusiast, especially for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Baylor Bears. Marie loved the Lord and spent time each day with Him the study of His word.
She was a part of the Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church congregation and the Cogdell Cooper Sunday School class, treasuring every member who made her feel so loved.
Marie is survived by her son, David Banghart of Omaha, Nebraska, and wife, Jill; daughters, Barbara Helmke of Denver, and Judy Burdett of Waco and husband E.W. She had seven wonderful grandchildren and thirteen precious great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church (1201 W. Highway 6, Waco, TX 76710), or to Scott and White Hospice (2401 S. 31st St. Temple, TX 76508), both of which have been tremendous blessings to Marie's family during her illness.
