Marilyn Ekwall

Marilyn F. Ekwall, 87, of Waco, joined our Lord. A graveside service will be held on March 29, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Rosemound Cemetery on 12th off La Salle Ave. in Waco.

Marilyn, was born December 27, 1935 in Springfield, OH. She graduated Jabbok College in Upland CA., in 1956. Marilyn married Robert D. Ekwall in Lincoln Nebraska in May 21, 1961. They had two daughters, Carla and Lisa and son Kirby. She moved to Waco, with her husband and 3 children in 1978. Robert passed away October 3, 1991. She was an active member of First Central United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.

She worked at Dean Highland Elementary in the cafeteria for many years and made the best chocolate chip cookies, ever. Then went on to work several more years in the hospitality industry before retiring in 1997.


She is survived by her daughters, Carla Ekwall, Lisa Haigood; grandson, Jacob Hancock; son, Kirby Ekwall and wife, Wendy; granddaughters, Hannah Ekwall, Kayleigh Rivera and husband, Michael.
