Mark F. Hodson
August 2, 1963 to July 13, 2008
Mark F. Hodson, son of Gene R. and Sandra Lee Hodson of Hewitt, Texas died Sunday, July 13, 2008 while hiking in the Arizona Mountains.
He was discovered by other hikers in the area and was air lifted to a nearby hospital where doctors worked for over an hour to save him. We appreciate all that was done on his behalf.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, July 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 7201 Viking Drive, Waco. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery by OakCrest Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 2 p.m. at the church.
Mark was born in Bountiful, Utah. He lived much of his growing years in Ogden, and graduated from Bonneville High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sidney, Australia.
He served in the Air Force for six years, including time in Dessert Storm. He was well educated, including attending Aviation School. He read many books and loved reading the scriptures. He spoke Italian and Spanish fluently. He also was a marathon runner and ran in three major races.
He lived in Italy, married an Italian girl, and has three children: a son Kyle, and two daughters, Waseca and Jamie Brook, who reside in Utah.
He is also survived by two brothers, Michael Gene Hodson and David R. Hodson, and a sister, Marilee Lopez.
He was preceded in death by a younger brother, Douglas Lee Hodson, and a younger sister, Camille Ann Havertz.
He will be remembered for his warmth and caring nature.
