Mark Perry McElroy, Jr., 66, of Waco, passed away January 17, 2011. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Heart of Texas Cowboy Church, 5101 Kendall Lane, with Rex Jean officiating.
Mark was born March 2, 1944 in Waco. He graduated from Hico High School where he was a state-winning member of the track team in 1963. He attended Tarleton University prior to his marriage to Janice Beth Whatley.
Mark traveled the United States as a construction superintendent, working on such projects as the Dallas County Jail, Interstate 35 from San Antonio to Laredo, and One Main Place in Dallas.
This ambassador for Texas promoted positive work ethics all across the United States. Mark returned to his beloved Texas last year and spent his time spoiling his grandchildren. His death was unexpected and he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark Perry McElroy, Sr. and Ona Mauritta (Rita) Raburn; daughter, Lisa Lynette McElroy; and sister, Linda McElroy Bond.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Stamford and husband, Vernie; son, Mark Perry McElroy III, his namesake; grandchildren, Cody McClinton, Tiffany Owens, Samuel Owens, and Matthew Owens; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Dawson, Paige and Tagin McClinton; siblings, Charles McElroy, John and Cindy McElroy, Mary Good, and Carolyn Dietrich; and many nieces and nephews.
