Mark T. Terry

Mark Terry, 61, of Waco, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at his home in north Waco. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Texas.

Mark was born in Waco on August 27, 1960, to Woodrow M. Terry and Annie A. (Kasberg) Terry. He was the youngest of five children. He attended St. Louis Elementary and Junior High and graduated from Reicher High School in 1978. After a short stay in Fort Worth, he joined the United States Navy, serving four years as a Signalman and receiving an honorable discharge. After his service in the Navy, he served in the Merchant Marine. Mark returned to Texas where he worked for a while with the moving firm of Central Forwarding; he later moved to North Carolina for several years where he worked in construction. He finally returned to Waco where he attended and graduated from Texas State Technical Institute (TSTI). After his graduation from TSTI he did research and development work at Midas RX in Fort Worth. He then moved to San Marcos for several years, doing CAD work for an engineering firm. For the past nine years Mark worked for American Income Life Insurance Company as a claims processor.

Mark loved fishing, grilling, the Baylor Bears, the Dallas Cowboys, and photography. He had just taken up the photography in recent years. Despite having severe eyesight issues, he came to excel at photography and at the time of his death, had a large library of photos that he had taken of wildlife, people, events and places in the Waco area. A few of his photos related to his fishing exploits appeared in the Waco Tribune Herald newspaper. Some of his photos will be on display at his memorial service. Mark also had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

Mark is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ky and Amanda (Mandy) Terry of Meridian, Mississippi, three grandchildren, Charlie Scott, age 11, Briela Grace, age 6 and Amelia Rose, age 5, sister Patricia Kelly of Newton, Kansas, and brothers Robert Terry of Houston, Texas, John Terry of Burleson, Texas and Paul Terry of Fort Worth, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s name to the Seva Foundation (www.seva.org) or the National Federation of the Blind (www.nfb.org) would be greatly appreciated.
