Martha and Wade were blessed with three children, Liz, Ronald, and Martha Sue and for many years, Martha was a stay-at-home Mom which she enjoyed tremendously.

In 1968, she went to work at Hillcrest Medical Center in the Nursing Service Department for eight years. In 1976, she transferred to the Pastoral Care Department where she remained for eighteen years until she retired in 1994. She often mentioned that those eighteen years spent in the Chaplain's Office were some of the most enjoyable and fulfilling times of her life.

After her retirement, she worked as a visitation receptionist at Connally-Compton Funeral Home and later OakCrest Funeral Home until 2009.

Martha was a member of Seventh and James Baptist Church for over 60 years and participated in the Meals-on-Wheels Program in addition to being active in several other areas of the Church program over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wade, who passed away January 29, 2010.
