Martha Otilie (Naizer) Maresh, 93, formally of Granger, died Sunday January 20th, 2013 at the St. Catherine’s Nursing Home in Waco, Texas. Services will be at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger, Texas. Dates and times are pending.
Martha Otilie was born in Granger to John and Marcellina (Bartosh) Naizer on November 20, 1919 and married Lad H. Maresh on November 17, 1947 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Otilie was a loving mother and grandmother who was always happy tending to her lovely chrysanthemums or creating new recipes. Her original “Cranberry Freeze” was even published in the Progressive Farmer Cookbook.
Otilie was a member of the KJZT, KJT, and Catholic Workman (K.D.) Branch 135 where she served many years as secretary and social director. Otilie and Lad spent many years attending K.D. conventions and visiting friends they made from Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and the Dakotas. It was always a pleasure when these friends came to Granger to visit them.
Otilie worked at the Nasinec Publishing Company as receptionist/bookkeeper for numerous years and served as editor when her husband became too ill to continue his duty as editor.
After her retirement, she moved to Robinson, Texas to be closer to family, who enjoyed visiting with her daily.
Otilie was a faithful member of SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and later at The Christus Chapel at St. Catherine’s where she attended Mass daily.
Otilie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Lad, brothers Albert, Henry, Johnnie, Bernard, and Daniel, sisters Annie Rosipad, Mary Ella Prikryl, and Edith Hajda.
She is survived by her daughter Martha and husband Reese Knight and two loving grandchildren Heather Renee and Trey all of Robinson, brother Laddie Naizer and wife Thelma, sister’s-in-law’s Sybil Naizer and Georgia Naizer all of Granger and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include nephews.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials can be made to the SS Cyril and Methodius School or the Granger Volunteer Fire Department.
