Mary Ann Brown passed away on June 18, 2014. Services for Ms. Brown will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at OakCrest Funeral Home (4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, TX 76710) with the Rev. Richard Roland officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mary was born in Syracuse, New York. She moved to Texas with her then husband, James Haliburton. She worked at local nursing homes before being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Mary was cared for by her family, home health providers and her friend, Mary Richardson, before becoming a nursing home resident.
Although she had a gruff exterior and will be remembered for her stubbornness, Mary had an indomitable spirit and she fought through remarkable health challenges for many years. She loved her dolls that kept her company and her television shows.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher Haliburton and wife, Brooke, of Waco, and by Levon Haliburton and wife, Monique, of Austin, two grandsons, and her sister, Geraldine Smith of Waco.
Ms. Brown, a member of Central Christian Church of Waco, will be greatly missed by her family and her friends, Beth and Brad Toben, and the Toben family.
