Mary Frances Bland Brown, 87, of Waco, joined her beloved husband, Jack Brown, Saturday, December 1, 2012. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at OakCrest Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with her family will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Mrs. Brown was born July 22, 1925 in Jones County, Texas to Van Franklin Bland and Johnnie M. Bland as the second of four daughters born to the couple. She graduated from Waco High School in 1942 and married Jack Brown on February 2, 1946. She received her Associate Degree in Fine Arts from McLennan Community College. She was employed as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after graduation from high school and subsequently worked for the Veteran’s Administration. In 1966, she became Tax Assessor for the Robinson Independent School District. She finished her career at the V.A. Hospital retiring in 1985. Mrs. Brown was a long-time member of Western Heights Baptist Church and was active in the Friends of Waco High School. She was a woman dedicated to her family, community and church and for many years was a loving caregiver to her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sisters, Retha Bland and Joyce Burns; and her grandson, Erick Christian Anderssen.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Rick Anderssen of Plano, Janis and David Elliston of Frisco; her son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Debora Brown of Lorena; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Rick and Michelle Anderssen, Drew Anderssen, Keith and Lauren Elliston, Kevin and Amy Elliston, Trent and Kayla Brown, Nicholas Brown, Megan Brown and Nathan Brown; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brown is also survived by her sister, Helen Norton of Seymour, TN; sister-in-law, Martha Brown of Mart; and treasured generations of nieces and nephews.
