Mary Lou (Kunze) Jahnke left to celebrate with her Lord on Christmas Day, December 25, 2007. She was 81 years old. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 29, at St. John United Church of Christ, 100 S. Robinson Dr., Robinson, with the Rev Toni Kracke officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 ? 8 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation.

Known affectionately as "Dween Dween" by her grandchildren, Mary Lou came into this world on December 14, 1926 in a small farmhouse outside Waco, Texas. She graduated from Waco High School in 1944 and lived her entire life in Waco, Texas.

In 1948, she married Erwin Jahnke and they had one child, Cynthia Sykora. Mary Lou survived the 1953 Waco tornado by seeking shelter in an ice cooler at the Geyser Ice Company, where she worked at the time. She was a longtime member of St. John United Church of Christ.

She is predeceased by her parents, Gustav Frederick and Emma Martha Kunze, and her husband, Erwin, who passed away March 11, 1977.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Sykora, and her husband, Thomas Sykora; four brothers: Paul and Mildred Kunze of Waco, Robert and Marian Kunze of Lorena, Fred and Nan Kunze of Richmond, Virginia, and Jim and Sue Kunze of Temple, and one sister: Shirley and Rudy Flores of Waco, Texas and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Additionally, Mary Lou had three grandchildren, whom she dearly adored: Brent Sykora of San Antonio and his fiance, Toni Johnson and her daughter, Katie, Blake Sykora and his wife Abbie of Waco, and Shelley Sykora of Lorena.

Mary Lou is probably best known around Waco for the license plates displayed on her car many years, "Dween 3," which won her numerous prizes on local radio contests. She is best known to her family as a wonderful mother, sister, and grandmother, and will be sorely missed.

Memorials may be made to the Saint John's UCC Memorial Fund.

Mary Lou wants you to remember how she said, "I love you very very much."

Affirmation of Faith
Leader:
Let us say again what we believe.
All:
We believe there is no condemnation
For those who are in Jesus,
And we know that in everything
God works for good with those who love God,
Who are called according to God's purpose.
We are sure that neither death, nor life,
Nor angels, nor principalities,
Nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor powers, nor height, nor depth,
Nor anything else in all creation,
Will be able to separate us
From the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen
