Mary Barton Robinson, 85, of Eldorado, passed away on May 11, 2014. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Eldorado at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14. She will be buried in Marfa with a graveside service during Paisano Baptist Encampment in July.

Mary Allie was born December 29, 1928, in her grandparent’s home in Marfa to Frank and Thelma Mitchell Barton. She graduated from Baylor University in 1950 where she majored in English. Mary moved to Eldorado following her marriage. Active in the community, she was named Citizen of the Year.

A 64-year member of First Baptist Church, Mary sang in the choir, served in Woman’s Missionary Union, worked tirelessly on committees, and taught Sunday School for more than 60 years. She served on the Boards of Baptist Memorials in San Angelo and Paisano Baptist Encampment where her grandfather was a founder. Mary gave more than 100 book reviews throughout West Texas. She loved to travel, especially to Europe, and made 20 trips to the United Kingdom. She also visited all 50 states.

Survivors include daughters, Kathy Hillman and husband, John of Waco, and Gail Robinson of Austin; grandchildren, Marshall Hillman and wife, Evie Karlson of Richardson, Michael Hillman and wife, Jennifer of Waco, and Holly Hillman Smith and husband, Kevin of West; and three great grandchildren, Sawyer, Tucker, and Chandler Hillman.

The family thanks Visiting Angels for Grammy’s excellent care, especially Kathie and Deborah.
