Mary Ross

Mary Griffin Ross, 84, of Waco, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at St. Catherine's Center.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2008 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

A memorial video will be shown during the visitation.

Mary was born June 10, 1924 in Lott to John Calvin Griffin and Augusta Parkus Griffin. She wasn't able to finish school in order to support and care for her siblings, but proudly worked for and received her G.E.D. at the age of 54 along with her dear friend of 50 years, Dollie Stanford.

She married John L. Ross on August 2, 1946 in Marlin.

Mary was a homemaker and always put family first. She loved flowers and watching and feeding the birds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, John L. Ross who passed away, February 23, 2001; brothers, Grady, Alton, William, James and Charles Griffin; infant sister, Marie Griffin; sisters, Dovey Russell and Ava Lou Self; and granddaughter, Sherry Walters.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Linda Eggerman and husband, Richard of Stillwater, OK and Brenda Taylor and husband, David of Waco; brother, Gordon Griffin and wife, Sammye of Blooming Grove, TX; grandsons, David Eggerman of Stillwater and Tim Eggerman and wife, Tammy of Tucson; granddaughters, Khaki Dobbs and husband, Kevin of Waco, Kristen Ewing and husband, Garrett of Houston; great-granddaughters, Xanthe Williams and husband, Brandon of Duncan, OK, Ashley Eggerman and Kelsey Eggerman both of Tucson, and Navey Dobbs of Waco; great-grandsons, Seth Owens of Stillwater and great-grandson, Baby Ewing due in December 2008; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend of over 50 years, Dollie Stanford.
