Max Scarborough

Max Leon Scarborough was born on August 31, 1943 in Colorado City, Texas to Inez Callaway Scarborough and Elbert Olen Scarborough. Max had a 30-year career with Procter & Gamble, during which he received a number of awards including Salesman of the Year. He enjoyed working with his colleagues and training new employees but his true love was working with horses. He spent many years in the rodeo world breaking horses, roping and announcing. Max found joy in teaching his daughters to ride and worked every day to make them a good life. He was supportive, kind, and always found ways to make his daughters laugh.

Max completed his journey on April 18, 2025, surrounded by love in his home in Hewitt, Texas. He is preceded in death by both his parents as well as his sister Sandra Moore. Max will be missed terribly by his daughters Rebecca, Sherri and Lacy as well as his son-in-laws Michael and Aaron. He also leaves behind much loved grandchildren Tara, Ashley, Lizzy and Brighton and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Rowan and Leo.

There will not be a memorial or funeral service for Max as per his wishes but he will be laid to rest in the Boyd lane of China Spring Cemetery. He requested donations in his name to Fuzzy Friends Animal Rescue, 6321 Airport Rd, Waco, TX 76708, in lieu of flowers.

"The last goodbye is the hardest to say, that's when the cowboy rides away."
