Maxine Kennon

Maxine Inmon Kennon, 90, of Waco passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. Services will be 2 pm Tuesday at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Aaron M.G. Zimmerman officiating. A private burial will be at Old Lebanon Cemetery at Aquilla. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Alban’s.

Maxine was born in Aquilla to Frank and Sybil (Burleson) Inmon. She moved to
Bellmead in 1930 and graduated from LeVega High School in 1941. After graduating
from Four C Business College, she was a legal secretary for Greer, Jobe, and Earle Law
Office. She was later asked to work as secretary at the McLennan County Sheriff's Office for Sheriff Homer Casey. While employed there, she became the first female
deputized in McLennan County. Maxine later joined the Sheehy, Lovelace, and Mayfield Law
Firm, a position she held 24 years until retiring in 1989.
She married Clint Kennon in 1943, and they had a daughter and two sons. She was a
PTA president, Camp Fire Girls Leader, president of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, volunteer
at Providence Hospital where she was named a Lifetime member of the Providence
Auxiliary, and held memberships in the Beverly Hills Lions Club, Emerson Club, Waco
Federation of Women, and Red Hat Society. She was a member of St. Alban's where
she was a past president of the Women's Guild.
Maxine was preceded in death by her two sons, Keith and Richard; grandson, Clint Kennon; and brother, Durward Inmon.
She is survived by her daughter, Konnie Kennon Crawford of Del Norte, Col.; and two
grandsons, Karl Kennon of Waco and Cody Kennon and his wife Mandy of Lorena;
great-grandson, Marshall Kennon of Lorena; daughter-in-law, Debbie Kennon of Waco;
nieces, Sue Ellen Cutbirth of Robinson and Eddie Massey of Waco; nephew, Mike
Inmon of Waco; great-nieces, Becky Davis and husband Kevin of Robinson and Kelly
Fox of Waco; and many of her dear friends.

The family extends thanks to Providence Hospice, especially her nurse Susan Messer.
