Melba Blankenstein
Melba Joyce Blankenstein of Waco, Texas passed away at home on Sunday,
February 19, 2023.
Melba was born November 10, 1948 in Greenville, Texas to Mildred and Johnny Laird. When Melba turned 18 she took a bus to Waco with basically nothing, found a job, and a place to live, and joined First Baptist Church. She married the love of her life Paul Blankenstein on April 1, 1977.
Melba faced every day with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She was always up for a road trip no matter the destination regularly adding to her vast collection of salt and pepper shakers.
Melba never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was a very thoughtful friend always asking about family members and committing to pray for them when they were in need.
Melba was proceeded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Marriott of Greenville, TX, her brother, Mickey Laird, and her
dear friend Gerald Hatfield.
Melba will be laid to rest next to her husband Paul Blankenstein in Oakwood Cemetery on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 1:00 pm with a graveside service. Friends and neighbors are welcome.
