Melvin L. "Mr. Melvin" Yezak, 63, of Waco, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Mark Deering as the celebrant. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., with a rosary service at 7 p.m. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown continuously during the visitation times.

Melvin Yezak was born August 20, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Ike and Maggie Yezak. He married his life long partner, the love of his life Sharon L. Walker on February 28, 1965 and started his roots in Waco. Melvin was the founder and owner of Melvin's 19th Street Drive In. Melvin was one of the best fishermen in the area and a member of several fishing clubs.

He had a passion for life, his family and friends. His laughter was contagious. Melvin lived the life of a true Christian, trusting in God throughout his life journey. He was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church for 41 years.

Melvin always had a smile and a warm and compassionate heart even though it was hidden under his tough exterior. Many, many life lessons were learned by his family by the examples he set throughout his life.

"The store" and fishing were both his passions. He appreciated every one of his customers and vendors and loved and laughed with them over the 30 years he owned "the store". He always had a good fishing story and was always ready to go wet a hook.

Melvin was one of the strongest and biggest Daddys that his daughters could have and one of the best paw-paws on Earth. Everyone has been touched by such a great man, and will continue the good works that he taught us. We loved him unconditionally and will always miss him deeply. We love you!! Honey, Daddy, Paw-Paw & "Mr. Melvin."

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Yezak, of Houston.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Yezak of Waco; daughters, Sherry Jackson of Fort Worth and Misty Nardell of Waco; grandsons, Tyler Jackson of Fort Worth and Layton Nardell of Waco; sister, Helen Groholski and husband, Elzie of Bremond; brother, Ike Yezak, Jr. and wife, Flo of Groesbeck; sister-in-law, Bonnie Yezak of Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Alfred Knight, Dr. James Schmitz and his nurse Sharon, and Dr. Isaac Lippe and everyone at Scott and White and all of their support that they gave Melvin and Sharon.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or Reicher Catholic High School.
