Michael Joe McGilvray, 61, of Waco, Texas, passed away, Friday, June 3, 2016 at Hillcrest hospital.

Visitation will be held at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Texas, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 5 pm until 7 pm. Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday, June 8, 2016 with Rev. Terry Graham of First Baptist of Woodway officiating. Services will conclude at OakCrest with no processional to Mt. Calm cemetery.

Michael was born September 2, 1954 to Billy Joe McGilvray and Joyce Fayrene Pressley. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1973. After graduation, he attended TSTC briefly and went on to work at Central Freight Lines for 21 years.

On November 21, 1981, he married the love of his life Dusty Elizabeth Lillard of Waco. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was well known as an animal and bird lover. He loved children and was often the go-to man of the neighborhood when a bicycle needed to be fixed. He was admired for his courage, strength and selflessness throughout his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his father Billy Joe McGilvray, his mother Joyce Fayrene Pressley and his special uncle Robert Southwell.

Survivors include his wife Dusty McGilvray, his three sons and wives, BJ and Leanne McGilvray, Matt and Melanie Miller, and Kris and Stephanie Braswell, his grandson Mason Miller and soon-to-be granddaughter Maddie Miller.

Honorary pallbearers are Gil Lillard, Brady Lillard, Raymond Carter, Dan Holey, David Kettler, Billy Markum and Mark Shoesmith.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the many healthcare professionals that managed his complex care including but not limited to Dr. Kendall Etheridge, Dr. Christopher Grant, Dr. Laurie Lazott, Dr. Chad Conner, Dr. Robert Plemmons, Dr. Sherwin Attai, Dr. Richard Scott, Jr., Dr. Norm Fluet, Dr. John Wise and staff of Scott and White home healthcare and Hillcrest hospital. The love and faith you have shown him is a precious gift in our lives for which we are eternally grateful.
