Michael M. Wentworth
October 26, 1953 – August 26, 2014

Michael M. Wentworth, 60, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at his home while being cared for by his two sons and showered with prayers of love and support from his family and dear friends. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, August 29, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 601 Columbus Ave, Waco, TX 76701, and a reception to follow in the Great Room upstairs at the church with the family.

Michael was born on October 26, 1953 in Galveston, TX. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1972. After graduation he attended Baylor University, and later became an independent insurance agent with a large sales staff that operated under the name Wentworth and Associates. On July 5, 1985, he became a father to his eldest son, Adam Sattler Milam Wentworth and on April 19, 1991, his second son, Michael Cameron Wentworth was born. These dates were regarded by Michael as the most important of his life.

Michael had a rare gift that drew people towards him, and he very seldom met a stranger that didn’t become a friend. He had a way about him that conveyed his wisdom and profound compassion to everyone around him. He was an artist, song-writer, musician, skilled hunter, champion mustache grower, and a natural salesman. In truth, there wasn’t anything that Michael ever tried, that he wasn’t great at, but above all, he was a devoted son and brother to his mother and siblings, especially after his father passed, and he was a loving, ever-teaching, and proud father to Milam and Cameron.

Michael battled with adversity and health issues throughout the second half of his life including being diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1990, which he defeated, a severe bout of endocarditis that tried to take his life again in 2011, which he also defeated, and the stage 4 colon cancer that was discovered on July 28, 2014. Throughout all of life’s trials and tribulations, Michael remained the charismatic and fun-loving man he always was. He was rarely seen without a smile peeking out from underneath his legendary mustache, and he was commonly referred to as “the life of the party” or an “amazing story teller.” He loved being surrounded by his friends and loved ones, and he especially loved spending time at the family ranch with his sons. He touched the lives of everyone he encountered and he will truly be missed.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jack Wentworth M.D.; his grandfather, Adam Sattler Jr.; his grandmother, Marjorie C. Sattler; his grandfather, Thomas Earl Wentworth; and his grandmother, Margaret Sadie Wentworth.

He is survived by his two sons, Adam Sattler Milam Wentworth and Michael Cameron Wentworth; his mother, Marjorie S. Wentworth; his sister, Leslie Wentworth Hall; brother-in-law, Robert Hall; nephew, Evan Hall; his brother, Walter Jack Wentworth Jr.; his uncle, Adam Sattler III and his wife, Jan and their three daughters; two aunts, and his devoted friend, Georgina Carone.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Brown, Jacob Brown, Spencer Brown, Tom Wolf, Kyle Orand, Ronnie Marstaller, Tommy Thompson, Hank Cole, Ace Closs, J. Closs, Don Closs, Tim Bulkley, Jay Bulkley, David Bulkley, Petey Bryant, and Aidan Bryant.
