Mickey Charles Cochran, 58, of Waco, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2007 in a Waco hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Ker and Deacon Greg George officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A video honoring his life will be shared during the visitation time.
Mickey was born April 24, 1948 in Waco to Betty (Ozment) and Thurman J. Cochran, Sr., and lived all his life here. He graduated from University High School Class of 1966, and received a BBA in Business Management and Marketing in 1972 from Baylor University. He married Elaine Nix on November 20, 1970 in Waco. He was a Baptist.
For the past 29 years, he worked for the City of Waco as an Inspector. He was a member of Central Texas Lone Star Chapter of Code Enforcement.
He has served as a high school baseball and basketball official through TASO, and enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and basketball for over 30 years in the Central Texas area. During this time, he touched the lives of hundreds of children, and set an outstanding example with his positive attitude, quick smile, and zest for life which he graciously shared with everyone. He was a loving and caring husband and father, and especially loved his grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents.
He leaves his loving wife, Elaine; sons, Mickey Cochran, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Lorena, and Chris Cochran and wife, Kathryn of Waco; grandsons, Mickey J. Cochran, Jacob T. Cochran, and Lauren E. Cochran, all of Lorena; brothers, Thurman J. Cochran Jr. and wife, Gail, and Robert Cochran; sister-in-law, Terri Nix; brother-in-law, Jerry Nix and wife, Charlotte; nephew, Matthew Cochran; and niece, Elizabeth Cochran and Sarah Nix, all of Waco.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Cochran Jr., Donald Littleton, Bill Martin. Junior Kelley, Gary Robinson and Danny Tiblets.
The family especially thanks Providence Hospital and Providence Hospice for their care.
