Mildred Austin, 88, of Waco, formerly of Tyler, went to the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at a local care center.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at Rosehill Cemetery in Tyler with Chaplain Vic Willmann officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 25 at OakCrest Funeral Home.
She was born June 6, 1920 in Bristow, OK to Roy and Maxine Gilman. Mildred owned and operated a Real Estate office in Tyler and later moved the Amarillo where she continued to sell real estate.
She married March 12, 1937 to S. Y. Austin in Norman, OK.
She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, golf, sewing and was a wonderful cook. She had a loving and giving heart to people around her. She also had a great sense of humor. Mildred had a love for all animals.
She was a member of the Eastern Star in Houston when she lived there many years ago. For many years she was very active in Senior Olympics with a nursing in Rockdale.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and 2 sisters.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Margaret Kilpatrick of Waco; son, Max Austin and wife, Jerry of Troup, TX. She was affectionately known as Mimi to 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
