Mildred Pryor Boyd, 98, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Ridgecrest Nursing Center.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 16, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. David Story officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation.

Mildred was born to George O. and Gertrude (Young) Pryor in Hillsboro. She gave her heart to Jesus when she was 13 years old. She married the love of her life, L.T. (Jay) Boyd on November 29, 1929. They lived in Hillsboro and attended the Walnut Street Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. In 1933, they moved to Bosqueville to be close to her family.

She attended the Bosqueville Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. They moved to Waco and attended Highland Baptist Church until 1957 when she joined Grace Temple Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Elgin, Bert, Bernice (Slick), Woodrow; sister, Clara Zimmerman; and sons, Jay Wayne Boyd and Jerry Don Boyd.

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Boyd Lothlen and husband, Glenn; daughters-in-laws, Shirley Boyd and Barbara Boyd; sisters, Vivian Bushnell, Hazel Matthys and husband Harold, and Betty Vaughn; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Temple Baptist Church or Bluebonnet Hospice.
