Marie Merrill of Waco went to be with the Lord December 18, 2008 while at home with her beloved family.
Visitation
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 21 from 4-6 p.m. at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, TX.
Services
Her services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22 at the Western Heights Baptist Church. Click on the name of the church on the right side for a map to the church.
Marie's Life
Marie was born July 15, 1925 to James E. and Bertha Blackwell in Roane, Texas. She was married to Gilbert D. Marrill in 1944 in Gainsville, Tx..
Marie served as church secretary for 24 years at North Waco Baptist Church before retiring in 1985.
While employed she was active with the American Business Women's Association. At Western Heights, she was a member of the Rachel Class.
Her passion and skill at quilting led her to the Willing Hands Quilters who made and donated their art to the Texas Children's Home at Round Rock, Church Under the Bridge, Care Net, and other needy organizations and individuals.
Marie recently received the following tribute from dear friends at Willing Hands "Marie is the ultimate Quilter, the one who is faithful and dedicated to our mission of making quilts to minister to others.
She is our encourager and teacher and we offer our thanks to her for all she means to our group.
Survivors include her: husband of 64 years, Gilbert D. Merrill;
son, Randy and fiancé, Nancy Doughty;
daughter, Carol Covelli and husband, Gary;
grand-daughters, Allison and Abby;
sister, Jenny Conner and husband Calvert;
nieces and nephews; Kevin, Ricky, Ronnie and Steve Blackwell, Don, James, and Jerlyn Carver, Michael Conner, Ann Dillon, Gordon and Terry Pillow, Carol Dorsey, Janet Forbes, Dana Garrison, Diane Geron, Connie Lago Marsino, Hal McCown, Susie Pingleton, and Gary Talley.
