Mildred Ann "Mitzi" Murphy, 77, of El Dorado, AR, passed away March 16, 2006 at Regent Care Center in Woodway, Texas. Graveside services will be Monday, March 20th at 2:00 pm at the Dewey Cemetery, Dewey, OK with the Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of OakCrest Funeral Home of Waco.
Mitzi was born January 8, 1929, in Dewy, OK. She graduated from Dewey High School in May of 1947 and married Charles C. Murphy on September 12, 1948 in the First Methodist Church, Dewey, OK. She was the past president of the El Dorado Hospital Auxiliary where she worked over 4,000 volunteer hours. She was also past president of the St. Paul United Methodist Women, and served on a large number of church committees. Mitzi sang in the St. Paul Choir for over nineteen years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Gertrude Straw, and two brothers, Kermit Straw and Raymond Straw.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles C. Murphy; Daughter Shelly Goush and husband Jeff of Colorado Springs and their daughters, Courtney, Rachel and Hallie; Son, David Murphy and wife Linda of McGregor, TX and their children Katie, Shannon, Patrick and Megan.
Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 700 West 8th St., El Dorado, Arkansas, 71730.
