Mildred “Mickey” Stroud, 90, of Waco, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family at her side Friday, October 26, 2012. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at her residence, 3520 North 31st Street, in Waco followed by visitation with her family until 4:00 p.m.
Mickey was born September 6, 1922 in Hamilton to William Denver Hale and Nettie Lee Barkston Hale. She married Milton Lee Stroud, Jr. December 23, 1950. Prior to the birth of her children, Mickey loved to travel with Lee to Japan, France and once on a cruise aboard the original Queen Mary. She also loved deer and dove hunting with family and friends. Most of all Mickey treasured being a stay-at-home Mom tending to her beautiful yard and spending many hours just sitting outside. Mickey was a long time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton Lee Stroud, Jr.; her siblings, Noble Hale, Evelyn Hale Dooley, Grady Hale, Henry Grand Hale, LaVerne Hale Blakley, Denver Odell Hale, Jack Hale and Joyce Hale Broyles.
Mickey is survived by her children, Milton Lee Stroud, III of Waco and Sandra Stroud Barker of Speegleville; grandsons, Brian Bruner and Troy Barker both of Speegleville; many nieces and nephews including Annette Hughes of Midlothian, Delyn Ellison-Lloyd of California, Larry Broyles of Muleshoe and Davis Collier of Midlothian.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Keith Boles, Providence Hospice and especially Becky, Lisa, Laura and Carmen, Laurie Spicer and Pat Frank-Estelle.
