Milton Burleson Dunlop, Sr., 79, of Waco, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, July 22, 2007. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Western Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating with Mitchell Parrish assisting. Burial will follow at Whitehall Cemetery in Woodway. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during visitation.

He was born on March 2, 1928 to the late John and Hattie (Register) Dunlop in Hamilton. He graduated from Hamilton High School where he excelled in football. He completed his higher education in combination with his military service. As a young man, he served first as a Merchant Marine and then in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and later in the Korean conflict. He married Jeanette Hampton on June 19, 1949 in Hamilton. He began his career in Hamilton County where he was employed by Community Public Service and later owned his own appliance business. After relocating to Waco, he owned and operated Dunlop's of Waco Appliance Store and was later employed by and retired from TXU.

Milton was active in his community and was a long time member of Western Heights Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Chairman of Ushers. and Sunday School teacher. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite Member and Texas Shriner. He volunteered for years in youth athletics and served as a Director, Manager and coach in Lake Air Little League baseball. He was a multi gallon volunteer blood donor for much of his life. He was an avid fisherman and loved to garden.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanette Dunlop; his daughters, Diane Jenkins and husband Bart, Penny Stewart and husband Mike, Lauri Newlin and husband James; one son, Milton Dunlop, Jr.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Jenkins, Melanie Severson and husband Nick, Jason Stewart, Melissa Dunlop, Jade Hunt, Garrett and Anna Newlin; five great grandchildren, Jordan Jenkins, Andrew Jenkins, Devyn Jenkins, Blayne Severson and Zander Severson. Other survivors include his sisters, Hattie Herring, Bobbye Howell and husband Sonny; brothers, Kelsie Dunlop and wife Lavenia, Carl Dunlop and wife Bettye; sisters by marriage, Rusty Dunlop and JoAnn Hampton; brothers by marriage, Truett Hampton and wife Carolyn and James Hampton and wife Betty; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and his dog and close companion of many years, Simon.

In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by his wife's parents, Reverend Clifford and Evelyn Hampton; four brothers; four sisters; his brother by marriage, Raymond Hampton and his beloved grandson, Joshua Milton Jenkins.

Pallbearers will be Jade Hunt, Jason Stewart, Hugh Ford, Glen Chaneyworth, Ray Colclasure, Driscoll Jenkins, Willie Guinn, and Jerry Hester. Honorary pallbearers will be Alton Hooser, Joe Yarbro, Gil Merrill and Abeel Gresham.
