Mina Ruth Senior, , formerly of Waco died Friday, July 5, 2013 in Bryan, Texas, surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be 10 am Monday, July 8, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas with her son -in -law, Bruce Reed, officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 5 pm Sunday July 7, 2013 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco, Texas.
She was born September 21, 1930 in Waco, Texas. Mina graduated from Waco High in 1948 and then went on to Providence Hospital Nursing School where she earned her Bachelors as a Registered Nurse in 1951.
Mina started her career working at Providence Hospital in Surgery and the ER and then became a school nurse for Waco ISD where she worked with children for more than 30 years. She was a natural care giver and took great pride in taking care of all those around her.
Mina married the love of her life, George Senior, in December 1951. They had two children, Linda Reed and David Senior that both survive their mother.
Mina was very active at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Waco where she taught Sunday school. She was an enthusiastic quilter and made sure everyone in the family had their own uniquely crafted and special quilt. In her younger years, she loved to garden and even spent time studying horticulture at the local college in Waco.
Having survived breast cancer in her forties, Mina was strong and loved life and lived everyday to its fullest celebrating with family and friends at every occasion possible.
In addition to her husband, George Senior, Mina was preceded in death by her parents, Melville and Ida Mae Earl, brother, Melvin and her beloved cat Tabitha. She is survived by her 2 children, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, her brother Bobby, numerous nieces and nephews, and her best friend Margaret.
