Miriam "Snooks" Simmons passed to the Lord on March 21, 2011 in her home at 98 years of age. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, with Father Brad St. Romain officiating.
Miriam moved to Waco in 1963 working with the Veterans Administration. She enjoyed the small town feeling of Waco and was an avid bridge player.
Snooks was predeceased by her husband, 2nd Lt. Edward Simmons of the U.S. Air Corps who was killed in action in Luzon, Phillipines, in WWII.
She is survived by her son, Edward Simmons and wife, Karen of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; aunt, Georgia Breeden; two cousins, Glenn Breeden of Dallas and Carol Leaverton of Santa Fe, N. M.; long time friends, Annette Brister and Betty B. Smith of Waco, Gail Thomas of Houston, and Tammie Stripling of Granbury.
