Misaye Kaga

Misaye Kaga, of Waco, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Crestview Nursing Home. Graveside service will be at 3:30pm Thursday, May 30, in Oakwood Cemetery.

Misaye Yanaura Kaga was born on October 25, 1921 in Fort Lupton, Colorado, to Manshiro and Fusa Yanaura. She grew up in Hiroshima, Japan, and attended the International Chick Sexing Association school in Nagoya. In 1939, Misaye returned to the United States. In 1946, Misaye taught Akira "Skeets" Kaga in a chick sexing class in Decatur, Georgia. Misaye and Skeets were married November 25, 1947. The Kaga's worked side-by-side for the next 38 years in the chick sexing business that took them all over the United States and the world. After over 50 years of service, Misaye retired in 1988.

The Kaga's returned to Waco in 1997. Misaye's great passion lived within loving and spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and working in the yard. Her abilities were vast; if there was a manual to any project, the end product would be perfect.

Misaye's greatest gift was her selflessness. She always put others' needs in front of her own with a happy heart; she found joy in other's joy.

Mrs. Kaga was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Betty Kaga, granddaughter, Katie Kaga, the apple of her eye. She is survived by the Kaga family of sister-in-law Sue Hasegawa and husband Yo, brother-in-law Shorty Kaga and wife Gay, brother-in-law Joe Sakamoto, and many nieces and nephews. Although long-time separated by distance but always loved, Mrs. Kaga is also survived by two sisters and a brother in Japan, and a brother in Denver, Colorado.

Special thanks to her niece Naomi Yanaura Scrivner for her love and kindness. Sincere gratitude to the nursing staff at Crestview Nursing Home for the care and companionship of Mrs. Kaga.
