Monette Gingerich

Monette Trice Gingerich, 89, of Waco, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, June 27, 2004. A celebration of her life will be Wednesday, June 30 at 2:00 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, with the Reverend Mike Toby officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at the funeral home.

Mo was born on June 26, 1915 in Lorena to Sidney and Myrtle Trice. She resided in the Waco area much of her life. After graduating from Lorena High School where she was Valedictorian, she taught school in Robinson. She later attended USC, the University of California and Baylor University where she graduated with a degree in Education. She taught school in Arlington, Waco (Dean Highland Elementary) and Roseburg, Oregon. While in Oregon she received her master's degree from the University of Oregon.

After teaching school for 45 years, she retired and returned to Waco in 1986 to be near her family and many friends. On May 6, 1944, Mo married George Kenneth Gingerich. He preceded her in death in November 1994. She was a member of Lake Shore Baptist Church.

Mo was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother making her family the main focus of her life. "Grammo" passed down the love of learning and teaching to all of her granddaughters. She will be remembered for her grace and beautiful smile.

Survivors include her son, Tom Gingerich and wife Mary of Waco; Son Jim Gingerich of South Hampton, New York; sister-in-law Mary Trice of Waco; brother-in-law J.D. Ridlehuber of Waco; grandchildren Kristi Fluitt and husband Trent of Austin; Kelli Barkley and husband Brian of Waco; Kathi Seiders and husband Roy of Austin; and Danielle Gingerich of South Hampton, New York; great-grandchildren Katelyn Barkley and Mary Fluitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Sid Ridlehuber, John Ridlehuber, Bill Falco, Rex Trice, Jimmy Miller, and Keith Trice.
