Moses Gutierrez passed away Sunday, December 7, 2003, in a Waco hospital at the age of 74.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at the Bible Way Church, 2800 Gurley Avenue, with Brother Efrain Trejo, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, with family visitation to follow. A memorial videotape of his life will be shown continuously during the visitation.
Moses was born September 4, 1929, in Waco to Guadalupe and Tomasita (Ortega) Gutierrez, and he lived all of his life in Waco. He married Erminia Sanchez in Pearsall, Texas, on March 17, 1962. He worked 50 years for Waco Ready Mix, and was pastor of the Tabernaculo de la Fe Pentecostes. He enjoyed visiting the elderly on a regular basis until his health failed.
His pride and joy were his seven grandchildren whom he loved dearly. The family especially thanks Jason Garcia who always helped care for our father, and was like a son. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Tommie Rodriguez and Lucy Garcia.
Survivors include his wife, Erminia Gutierrez; three sons, Carlos Gutierrez and his wife Cynthia, Ruben Gutierrez and his wife Patricia, and Noah Gutierrez and his wife Deborah; three daughters, Irene Gutierrez, Becky Gutierrez, and Rita Gutierrez; three brothers, Uvaldo Gutierrez, Pete Gutierrez, and Frank Gutierrez; three sisters, Mary Resendez, Vicky Resendez, and Marcie Lopez; and seven grandchildren, Larissa Moreno, CJ Gutierrez, Briana Moreno, Benjamin Gutierrez, Meagan Gutierrez, Jeremy Gutierrez, and Anyssa Gutierrez, all of Waco.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Resendez, Jesse Resendez, Jason Garcia, Jeremiah Trejo, Efrain Trejo, Jr., and Albert Rodriguez.
