OBITUARY

N. S. "Nat" Wooten, 87, went to be with the Lord May 23, 2005 following a lengthy period of declining health. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the OakCrest Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Chandler officiating. Burial follows at Powers Chapel Cemetery in Wilderville, Falls County. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Nat was born June 5, 1917 to David. G. and Medie L. (Reeves) Wooten in Cedar Springs, Texas. He married Estelle Cox of Rosebud in August 1939. He was a life-long Methodist, and served as usher at Service Memorial Methodist Church for 47 years. He was a member of Central Methodist Church at the time of his passing.

Nat retired from General Tire & Rubber Company in 1981 after 33 years of service. He then worked six years for the Waco Independent School District in food management services.

Nat loved his family, home, and garden. He was well known for his crops of summer tomatoes and fall turnip greens. He was an excellent storyteller who loved a good-natured laugh at another's expense. He had a good heart.

The youngest of eight children, Nat is preceded in death by his parents, six sisters: Novie Wooten, Kheecie Thomas, Lottie Neumann, Lessie Beam, twins Finnie Grohowski and Linnie Morris, and one brother, Thomas G. Wooten. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Estelle; a daughter, Sue Anderson, of China Spring; a son, Terry Wooten, of Dallas; two grandsons, Brian Anderson and wife Andrea of China Spring and Kevin Anderson and wife Sheila of Fort Worth; two great-grand children, Ashli and Jennifer Anderson of China Spring; several nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.

Pallbearers are T.J. Morris, Bill Cox, Keith Cox, Brian Anderson, Kevin Anderson, and Lloyd Farney. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Joseph Corbett, Dr. Charles Shoultz, Jr., Dr. Wayne Falcone,
Dr. Robert Crosthwait, Richard Jackson, George Wilkins, and L.D. Parsons.

The family expresses grateful thanks to the doctors and the staff of 4 South and 3 South at Providence Hospital, and those of the Caring Heart unit at Greenview Manor Nursing Home. Your exceptional care and devotion to our loved one will never be forgotten. We appreciate each and every one of you.
