NANCY KAY KELLEY CRAIG

August 7, 1942 - Oct. 10, 2015

Nancy Kelley Craig passed from this life to eternal life with Jesus on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 in a local care facility after many years suffering with the effects of Alzheimer’s. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 15 at 10:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery, 2124 S. 5th St, Waco, with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.

Nancy was born in Waco at Hillcrest Hospital, August 7, 1942 to Dan Ewing Kelley, and Adele (Johnson) Kelley. Due to her father’s career in the military, the family moved many times during her childhood.

She graduated from the University of North Texas in 1965 with a degree in journalism. It was while there that she met her husband, Jim C. Craig. They married July 30, 1966 and during their 30 years of marriage they lived in many cities, the longest being in the Washington D.C. area. While there, she worked for the Natl. Better Business Bureau, but her real passion was volunteering for the Natl. League of Women’s Voters. She thoroughly enjoyed being a part of that organization in our nation’s capital.

In 1996, she moved to San Antonio, Tx. where she lived with her mother and cared for her until her death from Alzheimer’s.

During that time, she helped charter her church, the Fellowship of San Antonio. Nancy had given her heart to Jesus at a very young age, and her faith was very important to her.

She is survived by her sister, Leslie Kelley Kinchen, and husband, Ed Kinchen, and niece, Karen E. Kinchen of Waco, her former husband, Jim C. Craig, her dear college friend, Charlotte Lawson of Cleburne and several cherished cousins. Special thanks to her dear hospice friend, Amy Lochman, and church visitor Arlan Riddle both of whom visited her for over 2 years on a regular basis. Also thanks to the wonderful staff at Crestview Nursing Facility: nurses Gala, Digi and Erinma, and all the CNA’s who lovingly cared for her every day. Thanks to Administer Lisa Smith as well.

Memorials can be sent to Scott & White Hospice at Hillcrest, 3000 Herring, 76708 and Crestview Healthcare Residence, 1400 Lake Shore Dr. 76708, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 688 Alliance Parkway Suite 500, Hewitt TX 76643.
