Narceille Marshall Butts, 92, of Woodway, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2004, in a Waco nursing facility. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at First United Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs Drive, with Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Galveston Memorial Park with the Rev. Roy Pruitt of Aldergate United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation with her family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 29 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Narceille was born March 3, 1912 in Palacios to Rev. James Bennett Marshall and Eunice Stover Marshall. The family later moved to Beaumont, where she graduated from South Park High School and South Park Junior College.

On June 25, 1932 she was married to Charles K. Butts in her parents' home and moved to Galveston. In 1948, the family moved to Santa Fe, Texas where she was an active member of Aldergate United Methodist Church for 45 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School, and served as treasurer of the church for a number of years. After the death of her husband, she moved to Waco in 1998 where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sisters, Dorothy Mason, Mary Marshall, and Pauline Johnson.

Narceille is survived by her son, Charles Butts, Jr. and wife Rebecca of Morris, Illinois; two daughters, Mignon Butts of Seguin, Texas and Cecile Truitt and husband, Dr. Jim of Waco; three brothers, Bennett Marshall of Royal, Arkansas, Ernest Marshall of Marshall, Texas and Dick Marshall of Crystal Beach, Texas; four grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Odell Dudley Sunday School Class.
