Nativida Esther Hurtado, 80, of Waco, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at St .Francis Catholic Church with Father Roman Burgos as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., followed by visitation with the family.
A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation.
Esther was born September 8, 1928 in Big Hill, Texas to Angel and Maria Gayton.She worked tirelessly to provide for her family, and lived a life of love and blessing. She was devoted to the happiness of her children and grandchildren.
She fully embraced the little joys in life, whether it was working in her garden, playing with her great-grandchildren, playing bingo at the Waco Missions, or making sure her family did not leave her house without eating something.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Rebecca; her sister, Modie Buenrostro; and her husband, Julio Hurtado.
Survivors include her daughter, Virginia Martinez; sons Richard, Rueben and Robert Hurtado; sisters, Minga Gonzales, Tonie Garcia, Josie Reyes and Candie Mata; and brothers, Johnny, Angel and Emmett Gayton; as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
