Nolan Edwin Hodde, 93, 28 days short of his 94th birthday, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024. Services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with a visitation the hour prior to.
Nolan was born September 1, 1930 to Charlie and Ellna (Manthei) Hodde. He met Lola Faye Hatfield and they were married on November 7, 1957. Nolan and Lola enjoyed 66 lovely years together.
After graduating from Penelope High School, he spent most of his time farming and helping his uncle in construction building houses until his enlistment in the Army on April 12, 1954. Nolan served as a medical aidman at Ft. Benning, GA. On April 11, 1956 he was released from active military and transferred to the Army Reserves, completing 8 years of service. He started working at General Tire in 1956 and was employed there for 31 years.
Nolan enjoyed fishing, camping trips, and building projects. He was a member of the Texas Baptist Builders. He enjoyed watching football and baseball on TV, with baseball being his favorite. Nolan was very active in his church, being ordained as a deacon on June 3, 1979. He was the Sunday School director from 1990-1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John.
Nolan is survived by his wife, Lola Faye; sons, Doug Hodde and wife, June, and Rodney Hodde; granddaughters, Becky and Sarah and her partner, Tyler; great granddaughter, Bailey Babb; sisters, Charlene Walker and husband, Thomas, and Sina Whistler; brother-in-law, Gerald Hatfield; along with many nieces and nephews.
